Civil engineering is the oldest and vast professional engineering discipline. It deals with surveying, planning, designing, constructing, maintaining and supervising infrastructure projects like schools, colleges, hospitals, highways, railways, metro rail, airports, bridges, tunnels, dams, canals, sewage systems, residential and commercial buildings. In otherward civil engineering is the professional practice of planning, designing and developing infrastructure projects.
Civil engineers build the world’s infrastructure, by developing so, they shape the history of nations around the world. People can not imagine the world without the contributions of civil engineers to the major infrastructure developments. Due to infrastructure development standard of living of people maintained.
How to become a Civil Engineer
Students who are having sound knowledge in mathematics and science/physics can join a diploma or degree course to pursue a 3-year diploma or 4-year degree course as per their choice and previous exam they have passed. For joining 4-year degree in civil engineering one must have passed 12th level or 3-year diploma civil( 2 years in case of diploma lateral) from a recognised board or university. The student must have passed the qualifying exam with 45% marks (40% marks for SC/ST candidates) with Physics & Mathematics as compulsory subjects and any one among Chemistry, Biology, Biotech, CS, Vocational, Geology, Statistics etc.
Eligible students have to go for an entrance test like JEE (Main) and other entrance tests conducted by different university and states. Eligibility criteria can be obtained from the respective notification. After the publication of the results of the entrance examination, every student will get a Rank card. As per the rank obtained by the student college will be allotted by the counselling process. After completing 4 years degree course /diploma course one will be a civil engineer.
